The end of the year will be difficult to manage for David Hubert. The injuries are starting to pile up, and one way or another, a risk will have to be taken.
Sunday, disaster for Anderlecht in the first half: Mario Stroeykensafter contact, remained on the ground. After trying to keep his place, he had to face the facts and left his post, replaced by Yari Verschaeren, who scored points by scoring the 1-1 goal.
But while we are still awaiting the results of Stroeykens’ medical tests, it already seems certain that he will not be recovered for this week’s trip to Slavia Prague. And as the weeks go by, David Hubert begins to scratch his head. “It doesn’t make me happy, that’s for sure,” he whispered after the meeting.
The beginnings of Tajaouart?
In the midfield, the rotation will now be limited to that between Leander Dendoncker and Théo Leoni. For the third thief and therefore Verschaeren’s understudy, we will probably have to look towards the Futures side. Anas TajaouartNo. 10 of the U23s, could well be called up and receive his chance. But nothing is certain yet, because for their part, the Futures are playing a very important match against the Francs Borains.
Tajaouart can also help out on the wing, just like Nilson Angulo who has frankly contributed nothing in recent months to the A team. And on the flanks, Hubert has other headaches: neither Edozie nor Degreef will be ready for Thursday, or at least not 100%.
So, what to do? Hoping that Francis Amuzu can play… twice 90 minutes in a row? It’s taking the very big risk that “Ciske” gets injured, and often, it’s for a long time. Amuzu is finally starting to regain his feelings and the season will still be very long.
As for the last risk that David Hubert could take, he immediately firmly ruled it out: no, the return of Thorgan Hazard will not be “rushed” following the cascading injuries in the team. Because here too, the chances of relapse are too great and at Sporting, we think about the long term – that is to say the Playoffs. They may already be playing out in part during this month of December…
