After ending the month of November poorly with three consecutive defeats, the Laval Rocket are back at the start of December.
Indeed, Pascal Vincent’s squad has amassed five points out of a possible six so far in December, thanks to a superb victory last night against the Toronto Marlies.
The Rocket was therefore able to take revenge against the Marlies and Cédric Paré after losing in a shootout on Friday.
It was a huge victory that was obtained last night by the Rocket, and it is largely due to the excellent performance of Owen Beck.
Indeed, the 20-year-old Rocket forward collected three points, including two goals in this 5-4 victory in regulation time.
It was Beck himself who prevented the game from going into overtime, as he scored the winning goal with around 20 seconds left in the game.
Beck was also a brilliant accomplice on Adam Engstrom’s first goal of the match, which triggered the avalanche of doggies on the ice at Place Bell.
In short, Beck is really standing out very well in his rookie season, while the more the season progresses, the more he becomes comfortable.
He’s getting so comfortable in the last few games that he’s even quietly taken the lead in scoring for the Laval Rocket with 20 points in 23 games.
Obviously, Joshua Roy and Alex Barré-Boulet, who have played fewer matches, are only one point behind him, but all the same, it is very encouraging to see Beck appear as one of the most important to the Rocket.
As a rookie of only 20 years in the American League, this is a very good production for the second round choice (33rd overall) of the CH in 2022.
In the entire American League, Beck is 4th among rookie scorers, four points behind a certain Frank Nazar.
For those who don’t replace him, Nazar is the prospect who was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks at 13th overall in 2022, with the choice traded by the Canadian for Kirby Dach.
Would the CH be more advanced with Nazar in its ranks rather than Dach?
The question is clearly posed.
In short, Owen Beck is on fire right now as he is on a six-game point streak during which he has eight points.
It is clear that with his current performances, Beck is shopping for a potential call-up to the NHL with the Canadian by the end of the season.
But for now, it’s better to let him dominate in the AHL and make sure he’s ready for next season, when he could very clearly get a job in Montreal.
There will be a very good fight at center between Owen Beck and Oliver Kapanen at training camp for the 2025-2026 season.

– Looked at that way, it really was a great draft.
– To be followed closely.
– A nice 4th place for Lewis Hamilton to conclude his chapter with Mercedes.
