The RAAL reversed the situation against the Genk U23s (2-1). This was necessary given the pace imposed by Zulte Wargem.
Even if the RWDM is now five points behind, the RAAL did not want to slow down the pace at the top of the D1B in the face of the strong comeback of Zulte Waregem, which has returned to the level of the Louviérois.
The men of Frédéric Taquin had to win against a hopeful team from Genk which is in penultimate place in the standings. The first act was not very exciting, marked by the injury exit of Maxime Pau at the half-hour mark.
Faced with the difficulties encountered by his team, Taquin made two new changes at rest, with the entries of Jordi Liongola and Raphaël Eyongo. In the opposite camp, we also note the rise in the game of Luca Oyen at the hour mark, eight months after his terrible injury against Standard.
-The RAAL has courage
Invigorated by this injection of quality, it was the Limburgers who opened the scoring to everyone’s surprise in the last quarter of an hour. Trailing six minutes from regulation time, the RAAL went all out.
It was first Eyongo who capsized the Tivoli for the first time by equalizing (84th, 1-1). Four minutes later, Maxence Maisonneuve turned into the hero of the evening by resuming a header deflected by the opposing goalkeeper (2-1).
Thomas Buffel, coach of the visitors, couldn’t believe it and actually saw red. The Wolves have gone through all the emotions but remain co-leaders of D1B. For its part, Zulte Waregem did not miss out by winning 4-0 against Beveren, well launched by Pape Demba Diop’s bicycle after 20 minutes.
