Geneva lost to Kloten during the National League evening. No doubt tired, the Eagles lost 3-2 in the Zurich suburbs.

The Genevans’ crazy schedule invited them to play this game in Kloten. A third match in four days after the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League on Tuesday evening and the defeat against Davos at Les Vernets last night. A trap match par excellence against a team that is surprising this season, very well coached by Lauri Marjamäki.

The opening score fell after 14 seconds from the cane of Miro Aaltonen, future Bern player. But the Grenat responded in the best possible way by scoring two goals in the 7th (Granlund) and 10th (Pouliot). And the Genevans were able to hold this 2-1 advantage for a good while. Until the 48th in fact, the moment chosen by Mischa Ramel to equalize. Worse, and while the Zurich spectators were ready to benefit from a hockey respite in the form of overtime, this same Ramel was able to serve Dario Meyer for the decisive 3-2 in the 58th minute.

The Zurich striker seemed quite surprised to score this goal, while Geneva goalkeeper Robert Mayer smashed his cane in anger. Despite a final push attempt, the Eagles were unable to come back. This defeat puts an end to their rise in the rankings. They are currently 10th and under threat from Friborg and Lugano, in particular.

The Geneva marathon is still not over. Jan Cadieux’s players have one more match on Sunday before the national team break.

Rapperswil continues to sink. The Saint-Gallois lost 3-0 at home against Langnau. They are 13th with 32 points and seven losses in a row.
