The player had impressed both in our country and abroad, especially in England. After his professional career, he returned to us where he remains active in amateur football.

Anthony KnockaerYou started your career in at Guingamp, after notably spending time with the youth team at Mouscron. He then spent a few seasons at Leicester City in the lower divisions of English football, before joining Standard in 2015.

Return to Mouscron

Last summer, Anthony Knockaert announced that he was ending his professional career. But that doesn’t mean he’s completely hung up his boots. Indeed, he chose to embark on a new adventure, as an amateur, at Stade Mouscronois.

The Frenchman was introduced last summer as part of the team which perpetuates the legacy of Excel Mouscron at the Canonnier stadium and which was promoted to the first provincial.

Heading towards national levels?

Currently, Stade Mouscronnois is well ranked in Hennuyer football, and a return to the national level could therefore very well materialize for Knockaert and his teammates.

In the meantime, alongside football, the player also has another very particular passion which he also practices in Mouscron: pétanque. His club’s A team were crowned Belgian champions last season and are part of the country’s elite. Knockaert currently plays in the Mouscron B team.

Petanque as a hobby

This is registered in the Flemish wing and therefore plays in East Flanders, in the honorary division, this is the level between national and provincial in the world of pétanque.

He obviously cannot always play because it depends on the program of his football team. But he seems to be having a lot of fun, that’s the main thing, and we wish him every success.
