Yesterday, Kirby Dach was a negative element for the CH.
After all, even if the Canadian won 3-0, the fact remains that the penalties cut the Canadian’s back. The Preds took advantage of five power plays.
And even if we have to take our hat off to the guys on the penalty kill (starting with Samuel Montembeault), the fact remains that we have to wonder why there were so many penalties.
Whether it was the fault of the referees or the players, there were too many penalties. However, it is clear that the one that bothered Martin St-Louis more than the others was that of Dach.
Dach did not play during the last 10-12 minutes of the match, when he took his penalty.
Even if he didn’t have a bad game, the fact remains that the center player often does things to shoot himself in the foot – and that of his club – at the wrong time.
And we wonder why.
On this subject, it is interesting to note that this morning, on the airwaves of BPM Sports, Anthony Marcotte recalled that a little earlier this week, Mathias Brunet had said on the radio that Kirby Dach did not arrive in good shape with the team this year.
Does this explain why his presences on the ice are more difficult to watch at the end of the shift? It can be, yes.
Juraj Slafkovsky and Kirby Dach are surely the two players who need to step up their game the most and right now, they are pulled by Patrik Laine on the second line.
Slaf was told this and we can imagine that Dach too.
-If Dach struggles because he doesn’t trust his knee enough, that’s one thing. But if he didn’t arrive ready for training camp, as Mathias points out, that’s another matter.
It won’t help people give him sympathy.
Remember that Dach could have been ready to play last April, at the end of the 2023-2024 season. This means that he was able to have a normal summer of training and that the injury cannot be an excuse – from what we know – on this one.
What’s it going to take for Dach to get up?
In burst
– Jacob Trouba: the case is getting complicated. Columbus would be in the mix.
– Who shoots the hardest in the NHL? [RG]
– Four nations: the Finns always wanted Patrik Laine. [RG]
– Oh yes?
– Logic.
