Kinshasa (DR Congo) – For the third time in a row, the CNSS is going to the most important Basketball tournament in Africa, which is taking place this year in Senegal from December 6 to 15. As a regular at the event, can she go beyond expectations?
CNSS recently lost its grip on the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Congo Cup to rival AS Makomeno. Only a good performance in this continental championship will allow them to redeem themselves this year.
The CNSS was a finalist in the Congo Cup, which allowed it to qualify for the Zone 4 qualifiers in Cameroon between October and November.
The Kinshasa club finished second in the Africa Women Basketball League (AWBL) zonal qualifiers in Group C in Douala, Cameroon, with a record of 3 wins for 1 loss.
KEY PLAYERS
Bintou Drame’s 14.8 points per game in the playoffs put CNSS on the path to qualifying for the AWBL.
Gracia Nguz (12.5 points per game) and Marlene Ngobeleza (10 points per game) are experienced players. Both players can set the tone for the CNSS when the opportunity arises.
-NATIONAL TEAM PLAYERS
The CNSS has national team players on its roster. Players like Nguz, Ngobeleza and Katia Mbelu have represented the Democratic Republic of Congo at the highest level. Hannah Amani also represented Ivory Coast in four editions of AfroBasket.
THE COACH
The team is coached by the experienced Ade Koko, who led the team to three FIBA Women’s Africa Cups (which preceded the WBLA), before leading his team in the first edition of the WBLA in 2023 in Alexandria, Egypt.
PROPERTY
The club is named after the National Social Security Fund of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
