The competition has not yet started and the battle is already raging. During the second and final practice for the descent of Beaver Creek, the three favorites set the three best times. On the Birds of Prey, the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr was the fastest ahead of Marco Odermatt (+0 »23) and Cyprien Sarrazin (+0 »31). But it was the Swiss and the French who left the best impression. The Nidwalden cut the wall before skiing calmly to the bottom of the route, while the double winner from Kitzbühel admitted to having made several mistakes. “It’s not as easy as last year when we could shoot from top to bottom,” told us Cyprien Sarrazin who debriefed for a few minutes about this training with his rival “Odi”. This promises for Friday’s descent.
In the Swiss clan, Franjo Von Allmen also stood out by taking 5th place, without straining his talent. Marco Kohler (10th) and Stefan Rogentin (15th) showed that they were going to have to be counted on. Alexis Monney (23rd) did not perform as well as Tuesday, making some imperfections. Lars Rösti (26th) is the last Swiss in the top 30. Justin Murisier (38th) who started with the bib took no risks and skied this timed test on the hold after experiencing shoulder problems following a small indoor mistake during the first training session.
The last post for Josua Mettler
Unsurprisingly, the last Swiss ticket goes to Josua Mettler who took 60th place. There was no competition, since Urs Kryenbühl was injured on Tuesday, while Loïc Meillard (51st) and Gino Caviezel took part in training to familiarize themselves with the Birds of Prey in preparation for Saturday’s super-G.
