The famous transatlantic race which leaves Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) every two years to reach Martinique is changing its name. Goodbye to the Transat Jacques Vabre, and hello the Transat Café l’Or.
The race changes cafe and main sponsor. This is also the main novelty announced by the organizers of the race who reiterate several times in a press release that the event is not changing.
Moreover, “we know that it will take some time to get this new name into people’s minds,” assumes Antoine Robi, co-director of the Transat.
And Régis Debons, deputy in charge of sport, maintains that “whatever happens, the people of Le Havre will continue to call it “the Transat””.
An explorer and an astronaut as godfathers
The race “keeps its course: four classes, four courses, four winning duos”. The 2025 edition will begin in October with the opening of the village on the 17th. Les skippers will leave the Paul-Vatine basin and will start the race on the 26th.
This next edition will have a sponsor in the person of Matthieu Tordeur, famous explorer from Rouen. And above all, a godmother, Claudie Haigneréastronaut and only French woman to have been to space.
