Louvain strolled against Zulte Waregem (5-0). Academics are getting back on track.

When he took over the team, Chris Coleman said it was the healthiest rescue mission of his career. For his first match on the bench, Louvain won 5-0, against a team from Zulte Waregem which was at the top of the D1B.

“It’s a pleasure for everyone in the club. The flow of the match was perfect, it was quickly 3-0, and we scored two more goals in the second half” sums up Birger Verstraete dance Het Nieuwsblad.

A victory without a false note…or almost

The match was thus quickly over. But Verstraete reminds that in the current situation, there is no pointless half-time. “With a little nonchalance, all it takes is for the opponent to score a goal for everything to change completely.”

The midfielder did not appreciate the gestures of certain teammates who wanted to put themselves forward in the second act: “It bothered me. If someone played like that against me, I would put them on the ground. I think that this lacks respect for the adversary.”

Verstraete seeks explanations: “They are young people. We have often played well without being rewarded, perhaps this is a moment when they want to show themselves more.” Nonchalance is all you should avoid on Saturday when traveling to Standard. After having forced Anderlecht and the Union to share, Louvain however seems to be gaining strength.
