the essential
After two consecutive defeats, Étoile Sportive de Gimont hopes to recover and move forward by going to challenge Orthez, legendary basketball city, this Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m.

The scores are not very flattering, but Étoile Sportive de Gimont did not necessarily do poorly in its last two meetings, lost to Chauray (-34) and against Lambroisières (-14), two of the tenors of Pool B of Women’s National 2. The fact remains that these setbacks are concrete and push ESG back to 6th place in the ranking. A level not really in line with hopes at the start of the season. This is why this Saturday’s trip to Béarn (match at 7 p.m.) is of great importance.

Forced in the off-season to profoundly renew its workforce and its structures, the US Orthez Basket did not start the season in the best way, suffering several painful defeats, between a – 28 at Basket Landes or – 15 against Chauray and Lambroisières. In other words, the teams which currently monopolize the podium of the group.

An indication that Orthez is not as “taken” as the dry statistics might suggest, especially since the Béarnaises bothered their powerful opponents before losing and being dominated.

Not very comfortable in attack (55.4 points scored per match on average, worst average in the group), US Orthez is hardly more convincing in defense (64.6 points conceded, 8th average out of 12). But, beyond the raw figures, the team, supported by the Salies-du-Béarn band this Saturday, does not look so bad and knows how to rely on its strengths, in particular its outside shooters.

The uncertainty for the Béarnaises is mainly due to the injuries to Marylie Limousin and Pauline Vincent: will they be back for this match?

Get rid of bad habits

Opposite, the Gimontoises will try to get rid of their bad habits, in particular the disastrous start to the third quarter.

The excellent return to play of Marie Athuyt (11 points) during the last day should help to unite the Gers squad. He will then have to rely on his collective strength, not fall into individualistic failings and take care of the ball, both in terms of address and management of lost balls.

In short, ESG should not complicate its life and, conversely, focus on its strengths. This will undoubtedly be the key to an expected victory.
