A special match which ended well in the end: this is what Friborg Olympic experienced on Wednesday evening in Charleroi. After a minute of play, the match was interrupted for more than an hour due to a technical problem linked to the timing in the room. A bad Belgian story… Started at 8:30 p.m., the meeting ended at 11:20 p.m.!
Three leaders
Deprived of Mezie Offurum, Killian Martin and Massimiliano Dell’Acqua (injured), Thibaut Petit’s team was once again strong defensively, with only 27 points conceded in the first half (27-42). She then showed herself to be very solid in the second half, always keeping Charleroi at bay.
If the collective performance is to be highlighted, special mentions to three players: Eric Nottage, Jonathan Kazadi and Natan Jurkovitz. The American playmaker scored 16 points, the Bernese playmaker scored 13 points and delivered 5 assists while the Friborg captain finished with a double-double: 19 points and 10 rebounds!
Match statistics
Note that this is the 3rd victory in 3 matches this season against a Belgian team: during the first round, Olympic had already beaten the Antwerp club twice. We have to believe that Thibaut Petit has found the solution against the clubs of his country.
-Group N classification
In the other group match, the Germans from Ludwigsburg beat the Poles from Anwil (86-81). The residents of the German 1st division will be Olympic’s next opponents: a game scheduled for next Wednesday. As a reminder, the first two places in each group qualify for the remainder of the competition which was won last season by the Germans from Chemnitz.
