Antoine Griezmann was angry after the Blues’ elimination against Spain in the Euro semi-final, pointing out a certain arrogance on the French side.

The French team will not play in another final. This time, the adventure of the Blues ended in the semi-final. Consequence of their defeat conceded against Spain (2-1) at the end of a match dominated by the Roja. Didier Deschamps’ men may have opened the score in the first minutes of the match, five minutes were enough for the Spaniards to turn the situation around, cutting the legs of the French.

And this time, the Blues were weighed down by their defense, according to Antoine Griezmann. While he recognizes Spain’s superiority, the French midfielder, on the bench at kick-off, pointed out the Blues’ complacency on the first goal scored by Lamine Yamal with an exceptional strike into Mike Maignan’s top corner.

“We know that Yamal is left-handed and we take a left-handed shot”

“We knew that they hit a lot from afar and we took a shot from afar. We know that Yamal is left-handed and we took a shot from the left,” he regretted on TF1 after the match, adding: “The equaliser hurt us and the second goal four minutes later killed us. We started well in the first twenty minutes but we perhaps saw it as too easy.”

The Madrid midfielder nevertheless paid a fine tribute to the Spanish selection. “They lacked defensive solidity and legs but they were better than us,
he confided. We lost against a big Spain. No excuses about having their legs cut off or anything, they played extra time too. They were better in everything.”

Coming on after the hour mark to replace N’Golo Kanté, Antoine Griezmann was unable to change the course of the match, failing to counter the Spanish side’s dominance in midfield.
