A youngest Anderlecht captain in history?

In Anderlecht, the qualities of the training are continually praised. And among the young people who play at the club, some skip every stage.

There is especially one who has been writing history for a little less than a year. In February, Ilyes Bennane made headlines by becoming the youngest Belgian international in history by playing with the U15s against England when he was only 13 years old.

From Belgium to Morocco

This time, it was against Spain and then Mexico that he once again broke a record. But it is no longer Belgium that young Mauve represents, it is Morocco. With the Atlas Lions U15s, he was also captain.

Having become the youngest captain of the Moroccan selection, the native of Verviers could quite simply be the youngest captain ever seen in international football. However, this cannot be formally verified and Bennane’s record validated.

A choice to make

Either way, the young player will have to make a choice when the time comes to play with a national team. If he opted for Morocco with the young people, he will be able to represent Belgium again if he wishes.

Selectors who want to call on his services in the first team may have to fight to convince him to opt for one of the two nations rather than the other. In the meantime, the Anderlecht hopeful will have to concentrate on his club performances, which will allow him to continue to progress.
