The Montreal Alouettes have agreed to a one-season contract extension with American defensive back Najee Murray for the 2025 season, the team announced in a press release Tuesday.

Murray recorded 44 tackles in 11 games last season, in addition to having an interception in the Birds’ Eastern Final loss to the Toronto Argonauts.
The 30-year-old from Steubenville, Ohio, returned to action in 2024 after tearing a pectoral muscle, limiting him to just six games last season. He also witnessed, as a spectator, the Alouettes’ conquest of the Gray Cup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2023.
He also missed seven games in 2024 with a foot injury.
Murray has only played for the Alouettes in the CFL, after joining the Montrealers in 2018.
He totaled 163 tackles, seven interceptions and a quarterback sack in 47 games spread over six seasons in the Canadian circuit.
“This veteran came back strong this year after working hard during the off-season,” said Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia. He had a great campaign with us in 2024 and we are happy to have him back in the nest.
“He is a role model for our young players both on and off the field. “It’s a very important piece in our defense,” he added.
