Football: Slot mocks City for joking about Salah’s future

Days after leading Liverpool to a convincing victory over Manchester City, Arne Slot has launched a minor dig at the struggling English Premier League champions, who have been accused of breaking financial rules.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Arne Slot was asked about the latest news regarding the future of Mohamed Salahwho is out of contract at the end of the season and said on Sunday that the 2-0 victory against City could be his last game against the team Pep Guardiola at Anfield.

Smiling, Slot replied: “Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 (charges) that are being made, so he expects them not to be in the Premier League next season”. He immediately pointed out that it was a joke.

City faces more than 100 charges, covering the period 2009-18, for financial offenses which were allegedly committed when the club was trying to establish itself as the biggest force in English . The sanction could go as far as expulsion from the league.

City deny the accusations and a closed-door hearing is underway. The verdict is not expected until early next year.
