Released under the whistles on Sunday, after an MHSC-Lille match (2-2) during which he was at the heart of several tensions, the player trained at La Paillade spoke on his social networks on Tuesday, December 3.
“To close the debates”. Tuesday, Rémy Cabella broke his silence. A little over 48 hours previously, the Lille player, trained at La Paillade, had been at the heart of the tensions of a MHSC-Lille meeting (2-2) which was not lacking in tension.
“I dreamed of ending my story at the MHSC where it all began but some people wanted it otherwise”Cabella wrote on X, as he did earlier on Instagram. “Today I dream of another with LOSC and I am very grateful to my club. Thank you to all my supporters for their support”he added.

Already two precedents
Before an electric end, and a scuffle between the two benches, the player of Corsican origin had aroused the irritation of part of the stadium. The attacking midfielder celebrated Losc’s first goal with his partners against the Butte Paillade and the Étang de Thau stand. An act, perceived as a provocation, that the Mastiff had already been criticized for in September 2022 on this same lawn. And which he reiterated, this time in Lille, in April 2023.

Lille – MHSC: “One day I hope to discuss it with Laurent Nicollin”, the reaction of Rémy Cabella
After each of these games, Cabella had already justified herself.“I don’t forget Montpellier, it remains in my heart. Even if something happened”he said in particular to the media at the exit of the Pierre-Mauroy stadium. “I hope to discuss it with Laurent (Nicollin, president of the MHSC) because I have it in my heart and it’s a small failure that we haven’t been able to discuss it. I would like one day to discuss this in private, not in public. We sort things out quietly. But it does something to me because I don’t forget where I come from.” added Younès Belhanda’s former training partner, Benjamin Stambouli and Jonas Martin.
Nudge, furtive return and resentment
Fifteen days after the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations in which he participated, the links between Rémy Cabella and the MHSC appeared very fragile on Sunday. After his celebration, the player was guilty of a gesture of humor, a nudge, on Téji Savanier, a few moments after having caused a controversial penalty. Only warned, Cabella was replaced later, under the whistles of La Mosson and the invectives of spectators to which he responded. “A reaction? There was enough in the stadium”he replied in a mixed zone where he did not want to stop.
To comment on this new episode, Cabella preferred social networks. But he has not yet delivered the end of a story that his return in 2022, eight years after leaving for the first time, has not helped. Recruited in Krasnodar due to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the French international played five matches before joining Lille in the summer.
With this departure, he had left doubt and speculation surrounding his relationship with Montpellier and certain elements of the locker room, including Savanier, who would not have pushed for it to last forever. More than two years later, the resentment seems not to have gone away. And the debates are not over.
