Following the defeat against Le Havre last week, Antoine Kombouaré was finally confirmed in his role as coach of FC Nantes. And now he has just had a new breath of fresh air thanks to the draw obtained this Saturday evening against PSG (1-1). Following this meeting, Kombouaré did not fail to be questioned about his personal situation in Nantes.
We have to go back to August 31 to witness FC Nantes' last victory in Ligue 1. Since then, over the weeks, the Canaries have only plunged further into crisis and Antoine Kombouare was a little more weakened in his position as coach. We thought then that the last straw was this last defeat against the Havrebut despite this new setback, Waldemar Kita decided to continue with Kombouare still for a long way. But until when? With the match against PSG who arrived, we did not necessarily give much of the skin of the Kanak, but now the Canaries managed to snatch the draw (1-1).
-“I have always said that I am lucky, privileged”
After this meeting with the PSGit was a question of the future ofAntoine Kombouare at a press conference. Asked about his situation, the coach of FC Nantes then responded, reported by Le Figaro : « The feeling of playing my place? It's been a long time since I asked myself this kind of question. When a match is over, I only think about one thing, finding solutions so that my players regain confidence, so that they can be better. Knowing if I'm going to stay or not… These are questions that you have to ask the managers, but not me, because I've been in football for too long and I've already experienced that. I have always said that I am lucky, privileged. I work, I'm happy. I don't work, we move on, I look ahead, I get up ».
“I don’t care about myself”
Antoine Kombouare also confided after this point obtained by the FC Nantes against the PSG : « Something that makes me feel good? I don't care about myself. I didn't sleep well because I spend my time working to find solutions, to help the players gain confidence and lead the team to victory. It's the players' revolt today, it's their victory. I'm combative, that's my first quality. But there, the players finally understood that they could redress the situation, with their backs to the wall. This is a point that will lead to others ».
