In a few days, the leaders of the four nations (Canada, United States, Finland and Sweden) will submit their official alignment for the tournament which will take place next February.

As far as we are concerned, the Canadian lineup will be very interesting to analyze and we first wonder if Nick Suzuki will be in the lineup, as well as Samuel Montembeault. The Quebecer is currently racing with a few other goalkeepers like Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill and Stuart Skinner.

A competitor has just fallen, however. Joey Daccord, who could have been one of the goalkeepers, will not be able to be selected by Team Canada, even if he has Canadian citizenship. In fact, he does not have a Canadian passport. Whether you are All right or not, Elliotte Friedman confirmed everything earlier in the evening.

Friedman, however, brings a downside: if one of the three goalkeepers gets injured and Daccord obtains his passport between now and the tournament, he could take part in the tournament. Those are some “ifs,” though.

For two years, the Kraken goaltender has been one of the best in the NHL.

In 16 games this season, he has an efficiency average of .916 and a goals against average of 2.46. If he were eligible, he would undoubtedly already be in the plans of Kyle Dubas and company.

In Monty’s case, if he doesn’t get caught, it’s not because he hasn’t been scrutinized. On several occasions this season, we have seen Dubas at Canadiens games that did not involve the Pittsburgh Penguins.

I don’t know if he has the mandate to choose the goalkeepers, but he was there either for the goalkeeper or for the captain. Or maybe both.

The masked man from CH had an excellent start to the season, but since then, his goals against average of 3.12 and his efficiency average below .900 have not been too great. When it comes to save percentages, Hill and Binnington aren’t doing much better, but they have a goals against average below 3.00.

It’s true that they play behind better clubs, but still.

We must also take into consideration that Monty has experience that should not be overlooked at the World Championship with Team Canada. He won a gold medal with it compared to the other two.

It is on December 4 that the official alignments will be revealed. To be continued, therefore.
