Bayern Munich snatched a draw against Borussia Dortmund (1-1) on Saturday evening in the Klassiker of German Football for the 12th day of the championship and strengthened its first place in the ranking.
The Munich residents concede their third draw of the season in the Bundesliga after Leverkusen (1-1) and Eintracht Frankfurt (3-3).
With 30 points out of 36 possible, they are seven points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen (23), defending champion and winner in Berlin against the Union (2-1) in the afternoon, and Eintracht Frankfurt (23), which travels to Heidenheim on Sunday (5:30 p.m.).
Still undefeated in the Bundesliga, Vincent Kompany’s men fell behind just before the half-hour mark on a counter from Jamie Gittens (27th) and equalized thanks to Jamal Musiala, once again a header, at the end meeting (85th).
The bad news came from Harry Kane’s injury exit in the 33rd minute. Munich’s top scorer came out holding the back of his right thigh. Bayern hosts Leverkusen, author of the Cup/Championship double last season, on Tuesday (8:45 p.m.) for the round of 16 match of the German Cup at the Allianz Arena.
RB Leipzig sank on Saturday on its Wolfsburg pitch, losing 5 to 1 during the 12th day of the German championship, a third consecutive defeat which further weakens the position of coach Marco Rose.
In contact with Bayern on the evening of the 8th day at the top of the Bundesliga (20 points each out of 24 possible), Leipzig took only one point in the last four days, beaten at Dortmund (2-1), at Hoffenheim (4-3) and against Wolfsburg (5-1).
On Saturday, Leipzig sank in the space of a quarter of an hour, conceding three goals from Mohamed Amoura (4th and 16th) and Tiago Tomas (5th).
This is Leipzig’s sixth match without a victory, if we add the setbacks in Glasgow against Celtic (3-1) and in Milan against Inter (1-0) in the Champions League, where the club Eastern Germany is almost eliminated with five losses in as many matches.
With three consecutive successes in all competitions, Leverkusen is perfectly preparing for its round of 16 of the Cup on Tuesday in Munich against Bayern.
On the Swiss side, apart from Granit Xhaka, only Fabian Rieder and Leonidas Stergiou set foot on the Bundesliga pitches on Saturday afternoon. The two players from Stuttgart could not do better than a draw (2-2) in Bremen. Stuttgart thus finds itself 8th in the ranking.
