Siteu’s case is taking a rather worrying turn. Especially when, after informal reactions, the National Anti-Doping Organization of Senegal (Onads) gets involved, announcing sanctions against the wrestler from the Lansar team who refused to submit to an anti-doping test.By Hyacinthe DIANDY –
The fact was so serious that some did not dare to believe this information thrown out at the end of the royal fight: namely that Siteu refused the doping test. Others are limited to informal statements coming from both camps of wrestlers. It was also one of those close to the “Roc des Parcelles”, Khadim Gadiaga, who spilled the beans, revealing the information following the victory of his foal by warnings.
Flying to the aid of his protégé, manager Max Mbargane tried to “wash” him by declaring: “Siteu never refused to submit to the anti-doping test. We were told as soon as we arrived at the National Arena that Siteu would have to take a doping test. I then told them that it would not be possible at the moment, because he cannot remove his “Nguimb” and his talismans, because the struggle has its realities. They later offered to do it at the end of the fight. But after the fight, it was impossible to take the test, because Siteu was being followed by a crazy world. I then asked the Commission responsible for doing the test if Siteu can go home and come back. They answered me in the affirmative. Unfortunately, when we returned to the National Arena, there was no one there.”
Arguments which, apparently, did not convince the National Anti-Doping Organization of Senegal (Onads) which, after assessing the situation, took action. Indeed, in a press release, it clarifies the circumstances surrounding the absence of wrestler Ousmane Senghor, alias Siteu, during the anti-doping controls carried out after his fight against Doudou Lô (Modou Lô) on November 24, 2024.
Risk of double sanction, administrative and financial
According to ONADS, the provisions for doping control had been clearly communicated “before the fight”. “At the end of the fight, the wrestler Modou Lô presented himself at the control station to complete all the formalities of the control procedure. On the other hand, the staff of the wrestler Siteu prevented the Onads agents from giving him the notification to join the control station and carry out his control procedure,” we can read in the press release. Which thus reminds “that evading an anti-doping control constitutes a violation of the anti-doping rules and is punishable by sanctions. Onads, in collaboration with the Cng de Lutte, will decide on the sanctions to be taken.”
The desire to crack down is therefore evident on the side of the National Organization which serves as a “focal point” at the national level for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). And according to certain indiscretions, if we apply the texts, Siteu could be doubly sanctioned: administratively and financially.
The role of Cng in this case, a simple relay
What about the role of the Cng? It is important to point out that this aspect mainly concerns ONADS. The Cng only plays a “relay” role, when it comes to convening or transmitting the results, and if necessary, handing over sanctions to the wrestler concerned. Also note that for the tests, the Cng doctor is present, alongside the wrestler’s manager.
All ears are therefore strained on the Onads side.
