54 hotels and 31 restaurants operating in Agadir do not comply with food health, hygiene and safety rules. This is the observation made by the provincial committee in charge of the control, monitoring and classification of these units, after having carried out unannounced visits to 130 establishments since the start of this year.
Of the 130 establishments visited by the provincial committee, 85 received formal notices and warnings, relays Al Akhbar. Only 43 hotels managed to maintain their ranking and six restaurants were “concerned by a lowering of rating”, informs the daily, adding that “all the units controlled and in which breaches of the law were observed were ordered to remedy to their flaws” within “specific deadlines”, “under penalty of having their operating license withdrawn”.
The establishments concerned must review their copy with regard to “cleanliness of the premises, compliance with hygiene standards and monitoring of the food safety of the products served”, indicates the publication which recalls that “the classification criteria for hotels include also the quality of service.
The Ministry of Tourism calls on firms to appoint consultants who stay in hotels, rate the quality of service and pay their bill like other customers (supported by the Ministry of Tourism).”
