Saint-Céré, who has conceded only one defeat in his last seven matches, wants to continue his march forward this Sunday against Luzech.
Saint-Céré Rugby is making great strides in its Regional 1 championship. As they approach, this weekend, the last match of the first leg, the “Sang et Or” display a remarkable record since in the last seven matches , the Saint-Céréens conceded only one defeat for five victories and a good draw won on the field of third RCBBV Gramat 12 to 12.
After the setback suffered at Montech at the beginning of November which put an end to a series of three positive results (two successes against the TUC and Moissac and a good draw at Bretenoux), the “Sang et Or” resumed their march forward in bringing down, for the first time this season, the leader Vallée du Girou then going for their second victory of the season away to Castelnau (13 to 20).
Currently ranked in 5th place in the group with 23 points (4 points behind 3rd RCBBV Gramat), and therefore more than ever in the race for the qualifying places, the Saint-Céréens want to continue their march forward on the occasion of the arrival de Luzech this Sunday at the Saint-Céré municipal stadium (match at 3:30 p.m.)
Faced with a Luze team which occupies last place with 5 points and which has only won one of its eight championship matches (21 to 20 against the TUC), the players from the north of the Lot will be favorites but they will be wary of ‘a visiting team which never gives up as evidenced by its three tries scored during its defeat at Montech, the short setback conceded at Castelnau (by four points) or its defeat at Gourdon where the Luzéchois struggled until the end without ever giving up.
If they want to continue their momentum, stay in control at home and achieve their sixth success of the season, the Saint-Céréens know that they will have to draw inspiration from their recent victories at home against the first two Moissac and Vallée du Girou .
Luzech will play his luck to the fullest
For this last match of the first leg of group 4, Luzech will travel to Saint-Céré on Sunday to face the locals ranked in fifth place (match at 3:30 p.m.). Saint-Céré has just won at Castelnau-Montratier and is looking towards the top of the ranking.
Luzech, for his part, lost last weekend at home against Bretenoux and is faced with numerous injuries which are weakening the team’s performance. The players are not giving up, but in this very difficult group, five clubs are aiming to advance to Federal 3, which gives an idea of the level of each confrontation.
The young Luzeches, mostly from the USL-RQL training, must, every weekend, oppose more physical and more mature squads.
However, they offer excellent opposition and constant combativeness.
The end-of-year holiday break should allow for a regeneration of the group and the return of several important players to start 2025 with new momentum. But before that, the Luzéchois must mobilize to try to catch the Saint-Céréens who will want to add another victory.
The hopeful teams, respectively 6th and 9th in the ranking, will play their match at 1:30 p.m.
