Breton Amandine Chazot, paddle champion, has died

La Bigoudène (Finistère) Amandine Chazot has died. Vice-world champion of stand-up paddle twice, in 2017 and 2019, she has also been champion of six times. The one who was licensed at the Pagaies-club of Pont-l’Abbé was the bearer of the Olympic Flame, during her visit to the legendary spot of La Torche, in Plomeur (Finistère).

“A fusion with the ocean”

For several years, the high-level athlete had been battling cancer. When we met her, in June 2024, she told “fight intensely” illness and confided in his relationship with the sea: “Alone on the water, I feel a sort of fusion with the ocean, it’s like a meditation. »

On social networks, there are numerous tributes, like the town of Pont-l’Abbé or the Pagaies-club which thanks her: “It was you who brought the dynamics of Stand Up Paddle to the Pont-l’Abbé river. You motivated us to create our club, you inspired the young people of Pays Bigouden… For all that and much more… Thank you! »

The surf league also pays tribute to “an exceptional athlete and a source of inspiration for our entire community”.
