REPORTAGE – Le Figaro was able to visit the IT Command Center run by Atos in Leipzig, Germany, through which all the technologies related to the event transit.

Performance in a football competition is no longer measured solely by goals scored. Number of successful passes, percentage of ball possession, speed and trajectories, expected goals based on the location of the shot… Data is now omnipresent and increasingly numerous at each edition of major sporting events. Technological innovations that enrich the digital experience, both in and outside the stadiums. So much so that Euro 2024, which takes place until July 14 in Germany, claims to be the most connected football tournament, in terms of data collected throughout the event.

To manage this technological complexity and make it evolve, UEFA has called on the French company Atos for the first time, with whom it has signed an eight-year contract. Before that, the association, based in Nyon, Switzerland, worked directly with more than 300 partners…
