Anderlecht Online – Neerpede: the clash of the academies kept all its promises (27 Nov. 24)
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2024, 3:57 p.m. – DavidBxl

YOUTH It was Saturday the meetings between young people from the two best academies in Belgium. This summit clash between the Anderlecht and Genk teams kept all its promises with duels of a very good level. At the end of very competitive and balanced matches, Genk remained masters in Limburg and Anderlecht won at Neerpede. The results of the 5 very close matches therefore lean slightly in favor of the blues with 3 victories against 2 successes for the purples.

Results :
U18 : Genk – Anderlecht : 3-2
U16 : Anderlecht – Genk : 3-2
U15 : Anderlecht – Genk : 4-3
U14 : Genk – Anderlecht : 2-1
U13 : Genk – Anderlecht : 4-2

Unlike competing academies, that of Anderlecht and Genk had the common point of focusing first and foremost on the technical aspect. The Limburgers seem to be returning to this basic principle somewhat by adding muscle. Some Genk teams have thus gained mass and size, which could have been decisive in this clash at the top. The purple teams were nevertheless not swept away and were able to compete with their opponents of the day.

U18 : draw 0 – 0 (scorer out of fuel)

After two disappointing outings punished by two draws which did not move them forward, the U18s were able to recover their captain Jarne Flies who had been taken over by the Futures. The return of the midfield engine allowed them to raise their level of play and make life difficult for the leader. At the end of a balanced match, however, it was not enough to bring something back to Brussels. A draw would have been more logical and if any team deserved the victory it was that of the mauves but unfortunately the efficiency was not present enough to transform a quality performance into victory.

It was especially during the first act that the young mauves missed the boat by wasting two unmissable opportunities. Instead of returning to the locker room at the break with an advantage in their favor, they were trailing 2 to 1,

They quickly equalized in the second half through their captain but an individual error sunk them. Two old mauves took the opportunity to give back the lead to their new colors. Murenzi crossed for the head of Reumers who did not miss the opportunity to make it 3-2. Anderlecht then pushed hard to come back into the lead but a missed penalty by Genk left them in the game until the last second.

Sole scorer in the last two championship matches and often the savior of his team with his goals, center-forward Terry Van De Ven was on the other hand in a day without this Saturday. He wasted a lot of scoring opportunities, some of which were unmissable. This is probably where the difference was made this Saturday.

U16 : victory 3-2 (Victory to character thanks to a burst after the break)

After two early incursions into the Genk rectangle which could have been transformed into goals by Bekkaert and Ede Eriyo, the Limburgers resolutely took control of the first half and created numerous chances, including two unmissable ones from 5 meters away. empty goal. We still wonder how the visiting attackers failed to push these two balls which were just in front of the goal line into the back of the net. The first time the ball was knocked back by the crossbar and the second it passed between players still wondering how they could have missed it. In the meantime, Genk had still managed to achieve its domination through its center forward. Just before the break, Lougmani missed the hold-up by not taking advantage of a good action from Lavia. The two teams therefore returned to the locker room with a score of 0-1 when it could easily have been 1-3 or 1-4.

The young purples returned to the field after the break with better intentions. Much more determined in the duels, they pushed their opponents and quickly scored two goals thanks to their relentlessness. Who better to equalize than right back Asani who, thanks to his determination, had been the only one up to the task in the first half? He broke into the rectangle to recover the ball and then deceive the goalkeeper. A few minutes later, Ede Eriyo imitated him by fighting like hell to emerge victorious from a confused action before shaking the net via the post. Regained confidence, the mauves could then have scored two goals through Bentkip, author of a beautiful volley after relying on a teammate, and Lougmani who did not know how to target his header while the goal was empty. It was only a postponement for the latter who, on a pass from Ede Eriyo, then presented himself in front of the goalkeeper and finally managed to beat him (3-1).

Genk then came to their senses and went on the attack again to get back into the score but the young purples easily contained their attacks. It was not the reduction in the score a few minutes from the end which allowed them to snatch this point which they could have claimed over the entire match.

Forced by some significant absences (Verstrepen Debast, Ojea), the U16s suffered in the first half against high-quality opposition. They were able to turn the situation around in character before getting their football back. A week after losing on the leader’s field, this difficult but very important success allows them to regain second place.

U15 : 4-3 victory (deserved success thanks to a quality second half)

Since their defeat on the opening day, nothing can stop the rise of the U15s who have just scored 8 consecutive victories. Neither the cascade of injuries, nor the youth of the squad, nor the defensive errors and this Saturday the leader with the maximum points could prevent the reigning champions’ rise to the top of the standings.

Genk’s 2010 generation was probably the weakest in their academy in the past. Limburg decision-makers have decided to remedy this by injecting new blood into it this summer. It is above all on the physical aspect that they insisted by recruiting a few players with a physique which was more unusual in the past. This paid off in the standings with a flawless performance and this was seen during a first half which mainly took place in the purple camp. Despite this domination, the Blues hardly worried the Anderlecht goalkeeper and it took two opposing defensive errors for them to take the advantage on two occasions. Between these two goals, Kone restored the tie by recovering in two stages a cross from Adado (Yansumu).

The U15 team has a lot of talent and showed it during a second of high quality where they seemed more liberated. By managing to free themselves from the opposing physical pressure, the young mauves took the game into their own hands based on their technical and combination play. The result was not long in coming with 3 goals scored. With a nice shot from 25 meters, Kage immediately put the two teams back on level terms. Assisting on the first goal, Adado gave his colors the lead and Kage hit the nail on the head by sheltering his team (4-2). Genk started to believe it again 5 minutes from the end following the reduction of the score by one of their defenders who put a beautiful brushed ball into the top corner. The young purples, however, were easily able to maintain their lead which gave them the 3 points for a deserved victory.

Thanks to this great success, the U15s come back to match their victim of the day and once again become the favorites for the title thanks to their convincing series of successes.

U14 : 2-1 defeat (set point)

At the end of a hotly contested match, the U14s came to a halt after having achieved a good series. They are now tied for third with their tormentor of the day. At the end of the first round, they had 6 victories in 9 matches. They were only defeated by Bruges and Standard, the first two who are physically stronger, and Genk. In clear progress compared to last season, they competed with almost all their opponents.

At the end of a good performance, they could have claimed victory but unfortunately the result was lacking. In the other camp, the left flank made the difference and allowed his team to win another victory.
