In Anderlecht, good results have continued in recent weeks. But that doesn’t stop Olivier Renard from actively preparing for the winter transfer window.
And the first acquisition of the Mauves sporting director would already be concluded. It must be said that the one who succeeded Jesper Fredberg will have to prove himself in January, he who explained that he would adopt a different working method from his predecessor. In particular, he wants to use scouting much more often.
Better consultation
There is also the desire to discuss more with coach David Hubert about the players needed and the transfers to be made. There is no question for Renard of signing players solely for prestige, the budget being too limited for that.
According to The Newspaperhis first target would thus be determined and Renard would like to recruit a central defender. An intention which was already that of Jesper Fredberg last summer, knowing that Jan Vertonghen and Mathias Jørgensen should not extend next season.
A reinforcement in defense
If they will be there until the end of the season, Renard does not intend to wait until then to strengthen in a crucial sector. Especially since Sporting should be cautious with Vertonghen who will return to the game after long months on the sidelines.
As for Mathias Jørgensen, doubts still remain about his level, he who showed good things during the last meetings but who had before that been less lively. An option which brings more confidence would therefore not be refused, especially since Jørgensen bears the Fredberg brand, which does not work in his favor.
