In an Instagram post published this Monday, the goalkeeper revealed that he actually played the rest of the game with a broken ankle.
“Sometimes football gives you highlights, and sometimes it challenges you in unexpected ways. I played 60 minutes at the Etihad Stadium with a broken bone in my ankle, giving absolutely everything I had for the team. Unfortunately, there was no other solution. I had to have surgery,” he explained with a photo showing him on a hospital bed. Vicario will thus miss several weeks of competition. It is the eternal Fraser Forster, 36 years old, who should regain his starting place.
