IF Loïc Meillard and Tanguy Nef did rather well, the first two slaloms of the season were, however, difficult for Daniel Yule, Marc Rochat and Ramon Zenhaüsern. The first named, who won the Chamonix slalom last year, had two complicated events. In Levi, the Valaisan ranked 16th in the first round before experiencing a difficult second course to fall to 22nd place. In Gurgl, the first round was complicated. Only 21st, he nevertheless showed good things on the second track to move up to 13th place.
“I didn’t get into the rhythm at all, whether in the first or second run. I tried to commit but I was under pressure at the wrong time in the curvehe explained after Levi’s slalom. I have never managed to create and take things quickly.”
For his part, Marc Rochat was eliminated in the first round in both Levi and Gurgl. Excellent last season with a 9th place in the discipline ranking, he must find his skiing as quickly as possible to avoid falling back in the bib hierarchy.
Finally, Ramon Zenhaüsern had two anonymous races. Eighteenth after the first track in Levi, he fell to 20th after the second round. In Gurgl, the Valaisan bordered on correction on the first route by qualifying for… 0’01. And there was no comeback in the second round, as he finished 30th, 3″57 behind Clément Noël and 0″73 behind 29th. A race to forget.
