Mercato: Al-Khelaïfi sets the tone for PSG’s winter transfer window

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi spoke about the future winter transfer window and suggested that it would be very calm in terms of arrivals, barring market opportunities to be seized.

One year after investing 40 million euros in two young Brazilians (Lucas Beraldo and Gabriel Moscardo), will PSG be active during the next winter transfer window? In recent weeks, the trend was clearly towards a relatively calm winter transfer window in terms of arrivals. The team once mentioned a possible recruitment to the left-back position, but Lucas Hernandez is close to a return.

Recently, the sports daily announced that PSG wanted a winger, like last summer, and possibly a right-handed central defender, if the opportunity arises. Although a lot can happen between now and January, the Parisian infirmary is almost empty since the long-term injured have all returned to training. Gonçalo Ramos, Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe could play again by the end of the calendar year and will allow Luis Enrique to have a more extensive defensive sector and finally a real option at the nine position.

Those who dream of seeing PSG break the bank on a Swedish striker at €100 million this winter therefore risk being disappointed and it is not the last outing of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in the future winter transfer window which risks 'reverse the trend. Asked by RMC Sport on Thursday evening about the possibility of his club recruiting players in January, the president of PSG responded in the negative.

Al-Khelaïfi does not see PSG recruiting this winter, unless there are opportunities

“Honestly, if you ask me today, the decision is no (no recruits in the transfer window). But I don't know what will happen if there are opportunities. We speak with the coach. But today, no. We have confidence in our players and for us, we have the players we need. We give them time, trust, we are in no hurry”declared the Parisian leader.

And when Emmanuel Petit asked him if his squad was not lacking in experienced players to supervise the youngsters, Al-Khelaïfi retorted: ” No. I think today we have the experience of Marquinhos, Skriniar, Lucas (Hernandez). We also have Hakimi, Ousmane (Dembélé), but we want young people too. We are taking the risk today because we are in no hurry. I don't want to win the Champions League this year, at least that's not the goal. »

Interesting clarification for the winter transfer window, if PSG were to recruit players at the beginning of January, they would not be able to participate in the two Champions League matches scheduled against Manchester City (January 22) and Stuttgart (January 29).
