Head coach of the Nashville Predators, the NHL club of Bernese defender Roman Josi (34 years old), Andrew Brunette (51 years old) made an incredible blunder on the night of Wednesday to Thursday while his team challenged the Kraken in Seattle , in a regular season game.

Already in a shaky position due to a disastrous start to the 2024-2025 campaign (the Tennessee club is 31st and penultimate in the general ranking of the North American professional league), the Ontario technician was sanctioned with a minor punishment from the start of the game played at the Climate Pledge Arena for not having respected their starting lineup.

Coaches must designate their six starting players (one goalie, two defensemen and three attackers) thirty minutes before the first puck drop. These are the skaters who camp out on the blue lines during the national anthems.

In Seattle, in his “starting six”, Andrew Brunette notably scribbled the name of Steven Stamkos.

But, at the start of the match, the Ontario striker was sitting on the bench while the Swede Filip Forsberg, who had not been designated to start the game, was on the playing area.

The coach was immediately mocked by the media, many of whom described the scene as “embarrassing.” And on social media, where the word “idiot” has often been linked to his name.

As for the bookmaker site “BetOnLine”, it presented its new odds for the bet entitled “Next head coach fired”. Three to one, Brunette is the favorite.

An odds which should not increase with the result of the match (3-0 for Seattle).
