Many supporters should once again pack into the Chaudron this weekend, on the occasion of AS Saint-Étienne's reception of Montpellier HSC as part of the twelfth day of the French Ligue 1 championship. According to our information, the ticket office for this meeting yesterday was a little below the 31,000 tickets sold. On the club side we are expecting 33,000 people and we hope to beat the Strasbourg reception which brought 33,043 spectators to the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium and which is currently in second place on the podium for attendance at Saint-Étienne this season, just behind the reception in Lens last October.
As a reminder, once again this season, a prefectural decree will concern the next AS Saint-Étienne match. This decree will regulate the movement of pailladin supporters but also and above all limit it to 300 supporters maximum. Strasbourg had benefited from a larger capacity (600 supporters). Before them, the Lensois, despite a joint press release with the groups of Saint-Etienne supporters, had not been able to enjoy the entire space reserved for visitors (limited to 1,200). The Auxerrois had the same caliber as their Alsatian counterparts.
Crowds at Geoffroy-Guichard this season:
- Saint-Étienne – Le Havre: 16,958 spectators (Kop Nord and Kop Sud closed)
- Saint-Étienne – Lille: 22,144 spectators (Kop Sud closed)
- Saint-Étienne – Auxerre: 31,445 spectators
- Saint-Étienne – Lens: 36,832 spectators
- Saint-Étienne – Strasbourg: 33,043 spectators
