The Kosovars left the field a few minutes before the end of the match after allegedly hearing racist chants against them.
Romania claimed a 3-0 victory over Kosovo after the Nations League match in Bucharest was interrupted when the visiting team left the field, UEFA said on Wednesday.
The match between Group C2 leaders Romania and second-placed Kosovo was halted in stoppage time on Friday after Kosovar players left the field with the score at 0-0 after hearing chants pro-Serbia from local supporters, which Romania denied. The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has been fined 128,000 euros ($135,000) following multiple accusations, including discriminatory behavior and inappropriate conduct by the team.
The FRF was also ordered to close its stadium for the next home match due to racist and discriminatory behavior by the team’s supporters. The Football Federation of Kosovo will have to pay a fine of 6,000 euros for the inappropriate behavior of its team. (Reporting by Tommy Lund in Gdansk, editing by Ed Osmond).
