It’s brand new: on Mondays, the headquarters of the Saint-Co Locminé transforms into a classroom for an hour!
It is 4:40 p.m. On the tables, a small snack awaits the young people. Fodiba Danso, responsible for the U13 and National 2 playerarrives from his “school bus” tour in the city’s two schools, with the club minibus. There are seven of them tonight homework help.
The idea is simple: before their training (which takes place at 5:45 p.m.), schoolchildren can do their lessons without having to return home. “I had this project for some time because we are regularly contacted by parents,” explains the educator. Some people have difficulty doing homework after their sports session, because it is late and that children no longer have the desire or the courage. »
Fodiba knows that it is not always easy, “some have brothers and sisters, or do not necessarily have parents available to help them…” By setting up this system, he hopes that these young “addicts” to the ball round, “do their homework as a priority” before joining the field.
A “plus” for families
After snack, everyone opens their notebook, and with the adults, they look at what they have to work on for the next day. For Théo, it’s about learning poetry about the Vendée globe. And for his neighbor at the table, Elie, a poem too, but about witches. “In general, I do my homework on the weekend for Monday and Tuesday, and on Wednesday for the end of the week,” explains the latter. “But since we come back from training at 7 p.m., we still gain time to review. » This evening, it is Gabrielle Gaudin, volunteer at Saint-Co and student at the nursing school, who makes them recite the first verses. It’s not that simple, there’s a bit of chatter on the other table, but it’s done nonetheless…
“Volunteers are the strength of our club. This is what allows us to set up this new service for families. »
They will certainly find several interests in it, since it also has the advantage of saving them from going back and forth between school or daycare on training day.
Assisted by students
The young people are well surrounded: this evening Fodiba Danso was able to count not only on Gabrielle but also on Steven Lamour, apprentice, player and coach of the U9s, as well as Esteban Garaud, a newcomer. He volunteered when he heard about the project at his university: “I am a L3 law student at the University of Bretagne Sud, in Vannes. As I live in Moréac, I found the idea interesting.”
The time to go to training comes very quickly. It doesn’t take long: the notebooks are put away, and before going out, the boys take the opportunity to discuss the latest news from the club with their supervisors. They are unanimous: homework with football friends is a real part of pleasure !

This is the number of young people licensed at Saint-Colomban, out of 515 licensees in total.
In addition to helping with homework for U10-U11, the club also sets up shuttles for young people from U16 who are high school students in Pontivy and Vannes.
