The City of Blainville held its Blainville Order of Merit gala and its Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony on November 14.
“Since 1987, the City of Blainville has recognized the exceptional contribution of citizens in several sectors of activity, both for their actions and for their sustained commitment to the community. Thank you to the organizations and associations for recommending high-quality people for each gala,” declared Mayor Liza Poulin.
The Blainville Order of Merit is the highest distinction awarded by the City. It is made up of three levels: the Laurels, the Fleurons and the Emeritus Members. A committee, made up of members of the Order and a representative of the City, deliberates and chooses the winners.
During this biennial gala, the City also awards the Palme d’Or to a business company that is involved in the community, and inducts athletes, officials and builders into the Sports Hall of Fame .

Suzanne Poirier-Lemieux
Treasurer of several associations (Cultural Committee, Horticultural Society, Folkloric Group, Manoir Blainville), this Blainville resident has a certain gift for finances and she has shared it with these organizations. Her inspiring leadership and ability to establish a climate of trust and safety make her an exceptional volunteer.
The Fleurons
Alain Boudreault
A volunteer at the Le Blainvillois Golden Age Club, which he has chaired for two years, he stands out in particular for his creativity, his keen listening skills and his ease of approach. He knows how to put forward new activities to get people aged 50 and over moving and keeping in shape. His ability to work in a team makes him a remarkable conductor.
Céline Morency
Involved in the 50+ Center, the Saint-Jérôme hospital and the Atelier Attitude, she is dedicated to improving the lives of the people she meets. She devotes her time to breaking the isolation of seniors and creating bonds of friendship. It also helps develop the autonomy of adults living with an intellectual disability.
Bertrand Painchaud
This pillar of the Blainville Pétanque Association has held various positions, including secretary and president. It is as a computer specialist that he distinguished himself by creating several essential tools, including the programming of software for managing fee payments and calculating grants.

Léo-Paul Bourré
This outstanding volunteer was the cook of the Friendship Dinners for 30 years. Attentive, full of kindness, orderly and efficient, he kept his kitchen in order and made sure everything was ready for the first service. The quality of the approximately 130 dishes he prepared twice a month was mouth-watering.
Palme d’or
The Palme d’Or recognizes a company’s commitment to the Blainville community and its support for voluntary action. Recipients are recommended by the Blainville Wing of the Thérèse-De Blainville Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Pierre Richer Companies
The owner, Pierre Richer, is recognized for his social and community commitment. Involved in the Optimist Club, the Martin-Matte Foundation, the Bon Départ Foundation and Moisson Laurentides, he was also involved in the Blainville candidacy process for the Quebec Games Final by soliciting financial partners.
Sports Hall of Fame: induction of three new members
The mission of the Sports Pantheon is to honor Blainville athletes who have achieved an exceptional and transcendent sporting performance, as well as the volunteer builders who have contributed to the influence and development of amateur sport.
Claire Parenteau
An occupational therapist by training, she volunteers at the Blainville Minor Hockey Association. Above all, she created an adapted hockey program in the Laurentides and Lanaudière regions to allow young children with an autism spectrum disorder without, or with a slight intellectual disability, to practice this sport.
Raphaëlle Gauthier
An artistic swimmer, she participated in her first Olympic Games in 2024 wearing the colors of Australia, where she has her family roots. In 2022, she reached the podium five times at the Quebec selection championship. She repeated the same feat at the Pan-Canadian selection championship, and on five other occasions at the Canadian championship.
Gabriel Seguin
This paratennis athlete is persevering and ambitious. Introduced to this sport at 14, he is a member of the Canadian team, a double silver medalist at the 2021 Canadian Championships, bronze medalist at the Costa Rica Cup in 2019 and bronze medalist at the 2017 Pan American Games. also won the gold medal at the Junior Pan American Games.
