Montreal Canadiens forward Lucas Condotta was caught in conversation with none other than Paul Coffey Monday morning during Edmonton Oilers training at the Bell Centre.
The scene was surprising. TVA Sports reporter Renaud Lavoie did not hesitate to go see Condotta afterwards, to ask him how he could know the Oilers assistant coach, who incidentally is one of the best offensive defensemen in the league. history of hockey.

The reason is very simple: Condotta is the same age as Coffey’s son and he briefly had the Oilers legend as a coach, in another life.
Coffey was stunned to see Condotta there. He knew that the Ontarian had been in the CH organization for a few seasons, nothing more.
“I was so proud,” Coffey said of Condotta. Because it appears that at the time he was in charge, the striker was not necessarily among the most gifted players in the group.
In short, the only reason for Condotta’s success in professional hockey is that he persevered. Coffey sees his presence in the NHL as “a message of hope.”
“I wish him ten more good years at the professional level,” said the former star defender to our colleague.
