Lagord does a good job by beating Stade Toulousain

Saturday November 16, on the clay courts of Lagord Squash (LTS), captain Arnaud Magnin could wear his best smile. Subscribed to the draw, he had just defeated the Indian sign by finally obtaining a victory at home. “A great success of 5 points to 1 which allows us to be in the race to maintain 50%”.

The day started very well, with 4 victories on the clock. First, Julien Cagnigna (-4/6) won easily (6-2, 6-4) against ’s Sasha Nicolau (1/6). Captain Magnin confides: “Julien played a serious match, there was a class difference, he did not force his talent”. On the other course Steven Diez (T60) showed his talent to overcome his opponent, the formidable Théo Arribagé, 8th French and 60th in the world in doubles.

Led 6-1, 5-2!

Confident, the Toulouse player beat Diez from the start with a 6-1. The second set was 5-2, Arribagé outrageously dominating the Lagordais (Hispano-Canadian) and possessing several match points… “But there you go, Steven didn’t let down his intensity, playing it like a Spaniard and making his opponent crack nervously until the tie-break (10-7). »

Enter the pure LTS local, Adrien Gobat (n°63), who is currently walking on water. Enough to extinguish Paterne Mamata (6-0, 6-4). “Adrien is impressive, aware of his potential, he is making it happen…” The fourth singles victory is for Stuart Parker (n°55), also sparkling at the moment, comfortably winning over Paul Cayre (n°61) (6-4 , 6-2). The score shows 4 victories to 0, the LTS is certain to win the match. That leaves the two doubles to, why not, make the grand slam. The Cagnina – Gobat pair then made short work of Mamata – Nicolau (6-0, 6-0); on the other course, the Toulouse specialists Arribagé – Cayre snatched the point against Diez and Parker (7-5, 7-5).

Now, the LTS will travel 3 times in 8 days: “We are going to hit 3,000 terminals,” announces Magnin. It starts on Saturday November 23 in , then Wednesday 27 in before finishing in Saint-Amand on Saturday 30. Toulon is the training most within our reach. »
