ATP; Jannik Sinner immovable No. 1, Novak Djokovic falls further

PARIS, – Jannik Sinner finishes a very prolific 2024 season with a bang: he increased his lead at the top of the ATP rankings with 3,915 points ahead of his runner-up Alexander Zverev, Monday the day after his triumph at the ATP Finals.

Even before coming to Turin for the end-of-year tournament, the 23-year-old Italian was certain of finishing a season at the top of the world rankings for the first time.

Novak Djokovic, who ended his season, one of the worst of his career, without even going to Turin to defend his title even though he was qualified, fell one more place and is now in 7th rank.

The 37-year-old Serbian had not been this low in the hierarchy since November 20, 2022 (8th).

Finalist in Turin, the American Taylor Fritz climbs to fourth place, behind the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the best ranking of his career at 27 years old. He exchanges places with the Russian Daniil Medvedev (5th), while the Norwegian Casper Ruud passes Djokovic in 6th place.

On the Canadian side, Félix Auger-Aliassime retained his 29th place and remains the highest ranked player in the country, ahead of Denis Shapovalov (56th) and Gabriel Diallo (86th).
