Antoine Dupont will not be the best player in the world at XV of the year 2024. Indeed, the captain of the France team, author of a double with Toulouse but whose club performances are not taken into account, does not appear not among the 4 nominated in the flagship category for the prestigious World Rugby Awards 2024which will be held in Monaco on Sunday November 24. However, it is named in another category.
Best player in the world at XV: 3 South Africans nominated
Among the 4 nominated for the title of best player in the world at XV 2024, the selection includes 3 South Africans: 3e ligne Peter-Steph Du Toitwinner in 2019, on 2e ligne Eben Etzebethnew record holder for selections among the Springboks, and winger Cheslin Kolbe.
The list is completed by the Irish 3rd line Caelan Doriswhose XV du Clover won the 2024 6 Nations Tournament, but also won a prestigious victory in South Africa, the reigning world champion nation, during the summer tour.
Best player in the world at 7: Antoine Dupont named
If he does not appear in the category “best player in the world at XV 2024”, Antoine Dupont is listed as “best sevens player in the world 2024”.
The Toulousain, who tried the challenge of rugby sevens in 2024, and succeeded by winning the title of rookie of the year on the world circuit and the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, is among the nominees, alongside his teammate Aaron Grandidierand the Irish Terry Kennedywinner in 2022 and top scorer of the season on the world circuit (32 tries).

Among the girls, France will be represented by the scrum half from Stade Toulousain, Pauline Bourdon-Sansus in the category best female player in the world at XV of the year 2024.
The competition still promises to be very strong, with the English Ellie Kildunne (14 tries in 10 matches this season) and Alex Matthewsand the Canadian Alex Tessier.
