Like Hassimi Fadiga last summer, another element from the ranks of Le Mans FC, Paul Lehoux, joins the UNFP football club. At the end of his contract, the 22-year-old defender will not continue with the Sarthe club whose resumption is set for this Thursday, June 27 and will therefore begin his summer preparation within this group of 25 players, all free, from this Monday June 24, 2024, in Lisses (Essonne). Created by the National Union of Professional Footballers, the players’ union, the team will play seven friendly matches (against Troyes on July 13, in Valenciennes on July 17, against Versailles in Poissy on July 27, against FC Metz on July 31 , against the Belgian club Virton on August 3 and against Paris FC at Orly on August 7) ​​in order to allow its members to stand out and find a new challenge.

In the list of selected players, published by Footmercato this Monday, June 24, also include several names known to followers of French football: the former Niçois Vincent Koziello, the ex-Nîmois and Guingampais Nicolas Benezet, Florentin Pogba, passed through Saint-Étienne and brother of Paul, or Jonathan Kodjia, best player in Ligue 2 2014-2015 for Angers. Cheick Ndoye (ex-Red Star) or Tom Lebeau, Maxime Pattier and Romain Sans (ex-Concarneau), for example, are also part of the group.

After starting at Dissé-sous-le-Lude, then at Lude and La Flèche, Paul Lehoux joined Le Mans FC at the age of 15. In June 2022, after five National appearances under the Cris era, he signed his first professional contract at the same time as Martin Rossignol and Zaïd Amir. The 1.87 m player was then loaned to Bourges (N2), in January 2023, before establishing himself as a central hinge upon the arrival of Mathieu Chabert on the Sarthe bench, in the second half of the 2023-2024 season .
