Surprising revelations from Riemer on his departure from Anderlecht

If part of the Nations League matches were scheduled for this Thursday evening, others are still on the program this Friday.

Among these meetings there is an interesting duel between Spain and Denmark, which will see Brian Riemer achieve his baptism of fire as national coach less than two months after his dismissal from Anderlecht.

Many offers on the table

Forced to leave Lotto Park despite a figures which was not bad, the Dane had seen the football proposed by his team being criticized. Criticisms which earned him his place but which he did not have to take into account when returning to work.

Although he agreed to take over the Danish national team, Riemer had other options, as he told Het Nieuwsblad. “I was surprised by the number of offers I received after Anderlecht: German, Swiss, Danish… I thought I had a few months off, but there was choice,” he said .

“Not for me to judge”

With Denmark, Riemer has the opportunity to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Nations League. To help him, he will be able to count on several players he met at Anderlecht including Kasper Schmeichel and Kasper Dolberg while Anders Dreyer was not called up.

As for the first two, they have been quite complimentary about Riemer in the Danish press in recent days. The second also enjoys a good reputation in Anderlecht and Riemer does not hold grudges.

“I really hope that Anderlecht will be successful soon. It’s not for me to judge their choices now. I know that I received a lot of messages from Brussels for my new job. From Fredberg, yes. And also by Wouter Vandenhaute I appreciated that,” concluded Riemer.
