Ranieri had already held the position of coach of Roma between 2009 and 2011, then in 2019 briefly, before returning today to the capital. The information was revealed yesterday by the media and was relayed by the person concerned in the lines of the Gazzetta dello Sport : “A difficult problem to solve? I know it. That’s why they called me.”he declared, aware of the challenges that await him.

AS Roma in a difficult situation

His predecessor, Ivan Juric, was sacked after insufficient results, four defeats in five championship matches. The Croatian technician was himself chosen to replace Daniele Rossi, who did not last long, dismissed in September after only four matches.

Ranieri, who has coached most of the big Serie A clubs (namely Napoli, Parma, Juventus and Inter), left his post as coach of Cagliari last June. He then announced that he was ending his coaching career, before reversing his decision. He was also coach with Greece, briefly, in 2014.

AS Roma currently occupies 12thth place in the championship with 4 draws, 5 defeats and only 3 victories to his credit. She will enter the Italian Cup against Sampdoria Genoa, for the round of 16, in mid-December.
