Victim of competition in Toulouse, Pierre-Louis Barassi interests the Stade français. The player, who has one year left on his contract, could join the capital at the end of his Toulouse lease.

Losing momentum at Stade Toulouse, three-quarter center Pierre-Louis Barassi (26 years old, 1.88 m, 102 kg) is of great interest to Stade Français. The Parisian club recently stepped up to offer the services of the French international to the three selections. And, for the first time since his arrival on the banks of the Garonne in 2022 from Lyon, the Toulouse leaders could have discussed an early departure to another destination, if it was the wishes of the player and in the event of sufficient financial compensation for his release.

The Barassi file had already aroused the interest of another club a few months ago: before enlisting Antoine Frisch, it was the Toulon Rugby club which had looked kindly to the ex-Lyonnais but the Var club then came up against the desire of Stade Toulouse to keep its player.

The situation has changed

Alas, since then, the 2023 French champion center has not really confirmed all the potential glimpsed then and has even accumulated disappointments with a series of injuries. At the same time, Barassi saw competition explode with the emergence of Paul Costes in particular. Despite undeniable talent and potential, Pierre-Louis Barassi, who has barely played more than 1,000 minutes this season in the Top 14 (1,006 minutes played, 18 matches played, 12 starts), ended up losing credit with his staff. , to the point that he should not appear on the scoresheet for this weekend’s semi-final.

The fact remains that, if the signing between the two parties could be imminent, the actual transfer between Toulouse and Paris should not succeed immediately and Barassi would not wear the pink jersey before the 2025-2026 season.

Indeed, the native of Sélestat is still linked to Stade Toulouse for one year and the Parisian staff would not be willing to buy out his remaining year of contract. As a reminder, the Parisians had already tried to sign the player when he left Lyon but the latter then chose the Capitol rather than the capital. Today, the situation has clearly changed and Pierre-Louis Barassi could have both sporting and personal interests in relaunching in Paris.
