Deco’s strong response to Haaland’s arrival

In recent weeks, rumors around a possible arrival of Erling Haaland at FC Barcelona in 2026 have started again. Questioned on this subject by Mundo Deportivo, Deco kicked in, ensuring not to think about the arrival of a new number for the moment: “I think it is very difficult to find a striker like Robert today. There are one or two of this level. Maybe Haaland or someone else. There aren’t many of this level available. But we’re not going to obsess about finding a striker now because we’re going to focus first on what Robert can do. I probably think he’s happy to be here. He’s a winner and if we have a big season I think he’ll want to continue. We first need to know if Haaland is what we want for the future. We don’t know now. Today, we don’t want “new”. We have Robert (Lewandowski). We don’t plan anything with a “new”. When the time comes to make a decision and I have to make it because I’m the one in the club, we will look at the options. But I think this is not the time to talk about any player.“

Barça is not currently looking for a number 9!

The Portuguese also spoke about the track leading to Viktor Gyökeres: “He’s a good player, he’s been scoring goals for a long time in Portugal, we know him like the others but he’s not one of our priorities today and we’re not looking for a “nine” to replace Robert either because we we want him to continue, to be happy, to score goals and for that to continue at least for another season.
