After conceding the lead of the race to Charlie Dalin yesterday, Yoann Richomme got back in front in the morning off the Canary Islands (Spain).

Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkea) took back control of the Vendée Globe during the night from Wednesday to Thursday ahead of Charlie Dalin, who briefly got back in front on Wednesday, leading a leading group which passed Madeira and is now sailing off the Canary Islands. The group of twelve sailors who lead the race at 7:00 a.m. Thursday are within 100 nautical miles.

The start of the race was very active for all the skippers who have not yet had time to have a moment of rest, like Jérémie Beyou, currently 3rd in the race. “The start of the race was indeed very intense: not a lot of downtime, if at all, with a very unstable wind. We were able to sleep a little at the start of this leg, up to about a hundred miles from Madeira, and after that everything started to get complicated again! There’s a whole mass of cloud blocking it, so we didn’t get much sleep. The first ones stopped a bit, I hope we will pass!» concluded the man who is participating in the Vendée Globe for the fifth time.
