CAN 2025 qualifications: Morocco wants to maintain the pace

This Friday at the Franceville stadium, theMorocco team will find the only opponent who has been able to find the breach in his defense, since the start of qualifying for the CAN 2025. The teammates of Yassine Bounou lead the way in Group B, with 12 points from 4 victories, for 14 goals scored and only one conceded. On Friday, the nationals will find the vengeful Panthers, who will give everything to ensure their qualification in CAN.

The national coach Walid Regragui declared Tuesday evening during a press conference at Mohammed VI complex of Maâmorathat his team will try to maintain the same pace displayed since September: “We are on an offensive progression which we hope to see continue. The opponent will give everything because he hopes to come to the CAN in Morocco. We will move, we will be in other conditions. It’s a time of year when there are a lot of injuries, players are overworked physically, but we always want to move forward and attack. We will go there with a good state of mind, to continue our winning streak”. The coach specified that his staff will aim for victory, while taking risks to test new processes: “We have a duty to achieve results in each match we play. We are first in the group, we were keen to demonstrate that we deserved this qualification, even if we are officially qualified… We still have two matches and we can always try new things. There will be doubts and certainties, but what matters is to be ready for the CAN to kick off, not before, not after”.

Regragui: The central hinge is the real problem, but we are still not in an emergency

Walid Regragui also spoke about the situation of his central defensewhich has raised some fears since the injury of Chad Riad. For the national technician, the situation should change again between now and the start of the CAN 2025 : “There is no concern regarding the central hinge. From will come back, Riad also, we also have Saïss who plays the Champions League and Bouftini or El Yamiq who play regularly… I am sure that by the 2025 Africa Cup we will have answers and the situation will be clearer… Today, in my mind, Ashraf Hakimi is right lateral and Noussair Mazraoui is left lateral. The central hinge is the real problem, even if there is not a big problem, we have conceded 2 goals in the 8 or 9 previous matches so we are still not in an emergency”. Let us remember that the national selection flew this Tuesday towards the Gabon to cross swords with the Panthers, before returning to Morocco and welcome the Lesotho in Oujda, next Monday.
