Sardella in full dilemma: two options for his future

At RSC Anderlecht, young players are now staying longer at the club, a positive development for the Mauves. In the past, talents like Jérémy Doku and Julien Duranville left prematurely to replenish the coffers. So far, Killian Sardella has extended his run at Lotto Park, but what’s next for his future?

Sardella, a pillar in Anderlecht

At 22 years old, Sardella already has 124 matches in purple colors. Spotted by Vincent Kompany as a potential right-back, this position proved to be judicious. Although he was trained as a central defender and played on the right in a three-man defense as a youth, Sardella established himself on the right flank.

Complicated beginnings and progress under Riemer

His debut at Anderlecht was marked by ups and downs, a consequence of the period of crisis the club went through. This instability held back many young players, including Sardella, who had somewhat disappeared from the scene. It was under the leadership of Brian Riemer that he found a place, first on the left then on the right. Despite competition from Louis Patris and Thomas Foket, Sardella eventually established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Jupiler Pro League, leading Domenico Tedesco to select him for the Red Devils.

Towards an RSCA legend?

Sardella extended his contract last summer until 2028, a smart move by Jesper Fredberg. Although he dreams of the Premier League, he could also aspire to become an RSCA legend.

“Maybe a good opportunity will come along, but if he can spend his entire career at Anderlecht, why would he turn that down? Deschacht wasn’t a great player at first, but as he got older he became very good. Kiki is only 22 years old and he will still progress,” says his close friend Jacques Morjau in The Importance of Limburg.
