Headlining a boxing gala for the eighth time, this Thursday at the Montreal Casino, Quebecer Kim Clavel is promising herself for her duel against Mexican Mayela Perez, but also for the future.
Certainly, it will not be a world championship fight, but Clavel (19-2-0, 3 KOs), who is recovering well after his two painful defeats in 2023, take this duel very seriously.

“She’s a road warrior who has a lot of experience, she still has 51 professional fights,” she recalled about Perez (20-27-4, 10 KOs), Tuesday, during from an interview on the show “JiC”.
“I am aware that she is not an (Evelin) Bermudez or a (Yesica Nery) Plata, but she is a girl who has experienced boxing, who has traveled all over the world, has- she continued. She faced world champions. She has already been knocked out. once, but it was in 2010, that’s a long time ago.”
“The biggest trap would be to take her lightly,” she then summed up about her rival with “heavy hands”.
Not finished
At 34 years old, Clavel already has a great career behind her, but while women’s boxing appears to be booming, the popular pugilist believes she still has things to accomplish, she who is particularly thinking of moving to the 105-pound category.
“It could be a great opportunity,” she said of this division, where there are belts at stake. Among others, she would like to face Costa Rican Yokasta Valle.
“I think I still have great opportunities waiting for me,” she insisted. Of course I don’t want to box for another five years, so it will be soon. The months and opportunities that follow will really shape the rest of my career. But I have the impression that we are in a great era of women’s boxing, of women’s sport in general.
The better things go, the more the boxers get visibility and nice purses. Clavel is delighted for the coming generation, who will be able to make a better and better living from this sport, and even have millionaires.
“The doors open and the women come in, I find it beautiful,” she summarized.
