As expected, Walid Regrtagui made a change in the national team following the injury of his striker Ilias Akhomach. The national coach opted for the semi-finalist of the World Cup with the Atlas Lions, Zakaria Aboukhlal.

“National coach Walid Regragui summoned Zakaria Aboukhlal, FC player, to replace Ilias Akhomach, victim of an injury during the match between Villarreal and Alaves as part of the 13th day of La Liga,” specifies the Royal Moroccan Federation of football (FRMF) in a press release published on its official website.

The Atlas Lions face Gabon on Friday November 15 in Franceville, and Lesotho on Monday 18 of the same month at the Oujda Stadium of Honor, as part of the 5th and 6th days of the World Cup qualifiers. Africa of Nations Morocco-2025.

As a reminder, Morocco, qualified for CAN 2025 as host country, occupies the head of the standings of its group B with 12 points following four victories in as many matches. It is followed by Gabon (7 points). The Central African Republic is 3rd with 3 points while Lesotho brings up the rear with a single point.
