Last night, there were six games on display in the NHL.
The Canadian and the Sabers faced each other in the afternoon (CH victory by a score of 7-5), but five other games were played later in the evening.
Here are the results and highlights:
1. Nathan MacKinnon, the first to 30 points
Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche played their 16th game of the season yesterday.
And the best player in the world, with an assist, collected his 30th point of the year. He is the first player to achieve such a feat in 2024-2025.
In team history, he is the third fastest to reach this plateau.
Among the top scorers in the league, Kirill Kaprizov follows him very closely with a total of 28 points.
But as far as the meeting between the Avalanche and the Preds is concerned, it was Colorado who won by a score of 3-2 in overtime.
Another Nashville loss and suddenly nothing is going right…
The team finds itself in last place in the NHL, tied with the Canadian (5-9-2).
Despite its victory yesterday, the CH did not gain any ground.
2. Six goals for the Stars in the first period
I feel sorry for the Penguins fans who bought tickets to their favorites’ game yesterday.
Indeed, they certainly did not have a good evening. In the first period, the Stars, who were the opponents, scored six goals. After 20 minutes of play, it was already 6-0.
Halfway through the first period, it was already the end for Joel Blomqvist.
What a horror!
The match ultimately ended with a score of 7-1.
Mason Marchment, who scored the goal that chased Blomqvist out of the game, finished the game with five points, including four in the first period (!).
3. (Re)welcome to the training, Matvei
In the Flyers-Sharks game, Erik Johnson didn’t even have time to celebrate his goal that he had to throw down the gloves.
In seconds, he was just one pass away from the Gordie Howe hat trick.
He didn’t manage to collect one, however.
The real hero of this match is Matvei Michkov. Upon his return to the lineup, he had a goal and an assist.
The match needed a shootout and he scored a superb goal for the victory.
Marque finale : 4-3 Flyers.
The Russian had been left out in the last two matches.
4. Good start to the season for Jonathan Huberdeau
In his second season with the Flames, Jonathan Huberdeau only collected 52 points.
That’s definitely not enough for a guy who collected 115 in 2021-22 and gets paid a lot of money.
But in 2024-2025, we have the feeling that he wants to improve. This summer, he asked his coaches for help and it has paid off so far. In 16 games, he already has 10 points, including six goals.
Half of his total from last year.
Calgary ultimately won its duel against the Kings by a score of 3-1.
In the victory, Mikael Backlund had a goal and an assist.
As for goaltender Dustin Wolf, he stopped 28 of the 29 shots aimed at him.
5. 10th game in a row with at least one point for Martin Necas
One of the players of the hour at the moment is Martin Necas.
In a Hurricanes victory in Vegas last night, Necas collected an assist to extend his streak of games with at least one point to 10.
Earlier, I told you about MacKinnon and Kaprizov. Well, Necas is right behind them among the top scorers in the NHL (24).
The Hurricanes don’t lose anymore.
With this 5-2 victory, they won their 11th game and now have a record of 11-3.
Carolina has won nine of its last 10 games.
In yesterday’s match, even Jesperi Kotkaniemi joined in the fun.
You know things are going well when KK scores…
Prolongation
– To force extension.
– That pretty much sums up the Nashville season.
– Marchment leads the charge.
– Seven matches on show this evening.
